I was so excited to come home because Tangled was out on DVD. I am absolutely in LOVE with Disney, and I am a firm believer that you are never to old for it. On my drive to VT today it was a total role reversal. My mom had been working all day, so we drove up together and I said I would drive. So my mom posted up in the back seat with the dogs and she watched Tangled. I thought that was really funny to look back at....great work Disney!!!
So I will be in VT for the next couple of days, weather is looking promising and there is snow in the forecast. Wondering what I will do tomorrow, either go up on the mountain or take a day to chill out with my mom and have a girls day.

Gruss aus Braunwald, Kessler Factory
Thursday, March 31, 2011, 07:38 AM

Since I was in Switzerland I figured I should check out who has been making my boards for the last three years. This town is a little different than you ordinary Swiss Village. This requires you to take a 5 minute train up to the village, where there are no cars, they do however have three horses to get around. This was the simplest way of life I have every witnessed in Europe. The factory is in a logging mill and is so charming. I really want to see this town when it is completely covered in snow. See the related link below.

This was the house of Anna Goldi in Mollis, who was accused of being a witch, and was later beheaded and burned and the stake. Just recently Switzerland is pardoning her....a little late but check out her story. It is a classic, she has an affair with a high up man in the village and his way of dealing with it is to call her a witch, and get her out of his hair. She was then taken to Glarus to be executed in a barbaric way. Press the related link right at the bottom.

Yesterday CHUR and today RAPPERSWIL
Sunday, March 27, 2011, 06:41 AM

After a rough ride down in the car, and getting a little sick I was able to rally and race for the GOLD. The carts go a little faster in Switzerland and the rules...well...they are not as strict.

Little stroll around Rapperswil today. More Castles.

Just finished the competitive season, last stop was in Arosa, Switzerland. I finished 7th in the first race and 2nd in the next one. This made me 3rd overall in the World Cup standings. Now I will be staying in Switzerland a couple more days to go to the Kessler factory and work on new shapes for my race decks.

Italy to Switzerland
Monday, March 21, 2011, 11:13 AM

This was the route that we went, normally we would take the highway, but we wanted to take in the beautiful scenery. This drive was about 4 hours.

This was a road in the valley were all you could see around you was mountains (you think this road every closes due to avalanche, ha ha). There were a lot of people that would park and hike up to get fresh powder runs, only thing that was odd was people never really strayed too far from another person's line, almost like they wanted to do all that work for a tracked out run?????

This was an epic view the entire way. There were a lot of switchback turns to climb up the mountain, but that is to be expected.

So today was really mellow. I had time to stroll around Valmalenco, not really anything to do but there are some great building and old churches. Like the one pictured above. This was the church supposedly where the Virgin Mary was sighted by several villagers. So they named the church after her. I felt weird trying to take pictures while I was inside, I didn't think it was right so I just appreciated it with my eyes.
On another note I have decided not to eat at the hotel anymore because they forgot to share some pertinent information with me. Apparently since we have been here we have been recycling our napkins at dinner. Some people would say that is not bad, recycling is a great thing....just listen to this. (I missed the first dinner because I flew in later, and apparently miss the instructional dinner that told you after you were done with your meal you put your cloth napkin into a big envelope and put you name on the outside of it.) After about three days I thought it was weird that I was taking a napkin out of an envelope, I mean that is not a normal thing that you see in the USA. The third day I noticed that my napkin was not very clean, also that it had a cluster of buggers, dried food, mustache marks and other things that I just don't want to say. I made a little scene and asked the waitress what was up. A few people on the team decided to share with us that we were reusing our napkins the whole trip, but since I never designated one for myself, me and a bunch of other teammates were rotating dirty napkins. I travel with guys for 9 months out of the year and I have to put up with some gross and dirty things, this dirty instance was a little my face!

Race Day
Thursday, March 17, 2011, 02:22 PM

Today was qualifiers in Valmalenco, Italy. The weather was snow/rainy mix, and that made it very difficult for the course workers to clear it off. As a result there was a delay and we did not race until 2:45. That being said, thank you to all the course workers that put in so much work to make our race still go on. Oh and I won time trials today.

I am not going to sugar coat it anymore. Italy is beautiful, but as of late the weather had been really bad. As a result our training was cancelled, we only got to train 30 minutes on course today due to lack of visibility and conditions. The shot above is a picture that was taken right outside my hotel window. Hopefully the weather improves for race day.

On the Road

The weather is not that great in Italy right now. Maybe things will get better, but the forecast is not looking so promising. Well all we can do is hope for the best. Definitely missing the Florida sunshine.

Well, I am successfully moving out to California for the summer, I am over the top excited about this and have pretty much packed all my things already. Ready for endless surfing, volleyball, tennis and anything else imaginable. I move out there June 1st with a pit stop in Arkansas, with those calculations I should be at my place the evening of the 3rd. Gidgett will be joining me as well. Cali = Sun= Fun.

I arrived in Italy yesterday. Today was my first day of training on the course. Super fun in this area. Bathrooms are a little small but good thing we don't hang out in the rooms a lot. I found out this year that I am missing the US Open. That is a bummer because it is in my own back yard (Stratton). Hopefully all my friends have a good time and kill it in the pipe and the slope course!!!!! I will be back home at the end of March, after stopping at one more place (Spain). Then it is off to CO and maybe AK, that would make my YEAR!!!!
