My brother came out for a long weekend to visit me. We surfed multiple times a day starting from the exact moment that I picked him up from the airport. Great BBQ with friends and neighbors on Friday night followed by going to the local bar to listen to a reggae band. We had such a great time and chilled on the beach. It rounded out to be a pretty productive weekend. :) Benny and I are pictured above at our cousin, JB + Anna's wedding.

I have been a supporter of Breast Cancer research for a few years now. My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer but thanks to early detection she was able to defeat it. She has check ups every year now and there hasn't been any signs that it has come back. I still hold my breath when she gets checked out and so far so good. Knowing that early detection was the key, I urge all women to get check out. Next week I plan to make a cast of my boobs and the cast will be painted by an artist. The finished product will then be auctioned off, and the proceeds will go to Breast Cancer research. Check back soon!!!! Click the related link below to see how you can help.

They will be making the Gold passes that are up for sale and will give you access to any mountain for your pleasure wherever you are in the Unites States. The unveiling took place in NYC at 9 am at Tiffany's. We had a great breakfast and greeted Tiffany & CO. in partnering with the US Team. Afterwards we all got to look around. Tiffany designed some jewelry with US Team logos that will help benefit the athletes that are pursuing their dreams. I got to put on a little necklace, I will never forget the feeling......

Bed No. 2 for ERIC SHEETZ...day bed

The plans. Theses plans were made on adobe illustrator with little effort. I got all the measurements that are required for a full size bed, then proceeded to put my own flare on the design. It was a similar design to the bed he made me before, but this is going to be a day bed/couch for the living room. Amie and I thought it would be a more functional piece of furniture for guests when they come to visit.

Cutting materials. After buying the materials, it is time to cut everything to size and weld it all together. This is were Eric comes in, and I am just a project manager. HA

Putting them together. Watching the bed take form is incredible. My friend is so talented with metal and he doesn't even try. I am going over to his house later and see where he is in the process and will have some more pictures soon.

NEPTUNE 500 RACE

In August there was a race that was held on Neptune Ave. in Encinitas. The race takes place on a tandem bike (our bike was provided by JONES SODA CO.) The race is about 5 miles long trough the town of Encinitas and it takes about 20 minutes, the only catch is that it is a bar crawl. So there were eight stops where you had to a shot or drink a beer. I don't know when you last drank beer as fast as you could then ran, but it is hard. Amie Thomas was my partner and we were returning champs from last year for the women. We were the Jones Clean Up Crew. Little play on word while being a little competitive as well. HA. There were great costumes and good people.

Custom Bed by Eric Sheetz

So I have this very creative and talented friend that can make cars from scratch, is a killer mechanic, surfer, and insurance salesmen. He is what you would call a Jack of All trades. I asked him to make me a bed for my room in Cali that would have a coastal flare with my own touch. So he had me draw something up and came back to him with my specs. He finished with a product of the highest quality that can be taken apart for easy transport (since I move around a lot) and the feminine flare that I was craving. The bed had a mermaid, seahorses, shells, turtles, and starfish. The best part is that there is not one like it anywhere in the world, I have an Eric Sheetz Original. If you are interested in beds, chairs, tables, hooks, or anything contact him through Facebook and you could have one of his pieces too.

We got to hang out in the winners circle for a good 30 mins and had the best seats in the house. It was such a great experience and I cannot wait to go to the track again.

Every time Jesse, Amie or I peer over that nest he is reaching up and opening his mouth as wide as it can go. More of his fluffy feathers are coming in and is chirping up a storm. The nest was no where to be found and we were unsure what to do. We moved him to the open grass and within minutes the parents found him and were feeding him. They tried to make the pickup but the baby was a little too big for them to handle, so they tried to stash him in a crack for the night. We knew that the sprinklers we going to come on soon and we did not want the baby to freeze and drown, so we made a nest and brought the baby inside. After he made it though the night we named him Petree. We have been feeding him small amounts of wet dog food. It is the coolest thing to feed a baby bird, I have never done anything like this before, but we had the help of Jesse and his mother to guide us on what to do. I will keep you posted on Petree's progress.

As you well know I am a really competitive person as well as my two friends with me , Rob and Amie. Rob is my fitness coach for the summer time, and this seemed like the perfect thing to for Amie and I to rope him into doing. This was the hardest thing I have ever done. It was a ten mile race up and down Snow Valley several times, and doing things like crawling in mud under barbed wire and hauling logs up and down a mile. To wrap up the race we had to run through a electrical field that would shock you so hard it hurts your teeth and makes your hearth feel like it jumped directly out of you chest. Check out the related link below.

It opens up a new perspective to the meaning of life. The museum had such great history of famous deaths, murders, serial killers, embalming procedures and funeral details, the list goes on. It was run by the most energetic and enthusiastic couple (JD and Kathy) I had ever met. They instantly made me feel welcome and gave me a tour of their museum.
Click the related link below to go check out the Museum of Death site

It was a beautiful day so we decided to take a stroll on the beach and pick up trash. We did that for about two hours and enjoyed the sun and company. You would not believe the kinds of thing that we found. We collected a ton of trash in a mile and a half strip. So please remember to throw away your trash and don't be a litter bug.

I went to the Long Beach Grand Prix to see my friend race with Jesse. We had the best time cruising through the whole event. There was so much to see. We got to go in the pit before they started the race and check out the cars up close, I could of hoped in one if I wanted. There was also the paddock where all the trailers were lined up for every racer. So many things to choose from, vendors, food, drinks and clothing of your favorite racer. Thank you so much for the tickets James!!!! After the race James let me get in his car to see what it felt like. The car is custom molded to your body to ensure a safe and comfortable fit. My hips were having a hard time fitting into his seat, ha.
It was also great that the crew from the east coast Mackenzie, Cesira and Tyler were able to join.
Follow James Jakes on Facebook and Twitter.

What do you know, they feel as great as a Kessler board. I brought these back home with me when I was over in Switzerland at the Kessler factory. There was no wet precipitation in the program. The sun was out all day as were we. There are roomers going around Stratton that they might stay open an extra weekend since they have had such a good snow year. We will know in a few days what the call will be on that, so stay tuned.

I thought that was really funny to look back at....great work Disney!!!
So I will be in VT for the next couple of days, weather is looking promising and there is snow in the forecast. This town is a little different than you ordinary Swiss Village. This was the simplest way of life I have every witnessed in Europe. The factory is in a logging mill and is so charming. I really want to see this town when it is completely covered in snow. Just recently Switzerland is pardoning her....a little late but check out her story. It is a classic, she has an affair with a high up man in the village and his way of dealing with it is to call her a witch, and get her out of his hair. She was then taken to Glarus to be executed in a barbaric way. Press the related link right at the bottom.

DAY OFF

So today was really mellow. I had time to stroll around Valmalenco, not really anything to do but there are some great building and old churches. Like the one pictured above. This was the church supposedly where the Virgin Mary was sighted by several villagers. So they named the church after her. I felt weird trying to take pictures while I was inside, I didn't think it was right so I just appreciated it with my eyes.
On another note I have decided not to eat at the hotel anymore because they forgot to share some pertinent information with me. Apparently since we have been here we have been recycling our napkins at dinner. Some people would say that is not bad, recycling is a great thing....just listen to this. (I missed the first dinner because I flew in later, and apparently miss the instructional dinner that told you after you were done with your meal you put your cloth napkin into a big envelope and put you name on the outside of it.) After about three days I thought it was weird that I was taking a napkin out of an envelope, I mean that is not a normal thing that you see in the USA. The third day I noticed that my napkin was not very clean, also that it had a cluster of buggers, dried food, mustache marks and other things that I just don't want to say. I made a little scene and asked the waitress what was up. A few people on the team decided to share with us that we were reusing our napkins the whole trip, but since I never designated one for myself, me and a bunch of other teammates were rotating dirty napkins. I travel with guys for 9 months out of the year and I have to put up with some gross and dirty things, this dirty instance was a little too...in my face!
